How to Use the Gas Fireplace

Watch the instructional video, review the safety information, and follow the steps below before lighting the fireplace.

Instructional Video

Watch before lighting

About 4 minutes

The controls are located behind the front screen and along the bottom of the fireplace log assembly.

Lighting Instructions

Follow these steps in order

The location of each control is demonstrated in the video above.

1

Open the fireplace screen

Carefully open the screen at the front of the fireplace so you can reach the gas valve and lower control bar.

2

Open the gas supply

Locate the red gas valve on the right side. Turn it slowly to the left to supply gas to the fireplace.

Stop immediately if you hear prolonged gas flow or smell gas.

3

Check the lower controls

Locate the control bar beneath the logs. Confirm that the separate on/off switch is set to ON.

Leave the flame-height control in its current position unless an adjustment is necessary.

4

Set the control knob to PILOT

Locate the knob marked OFF, PILOT, and ON. Push it inward slightly and rotate it to the PILOT position.

Use the small arrow at approximately the three-o'clock position beside the knob to confirm that PILOT is correctly aligned.

5

Light the pilot

Push and hold the pilot-control knob inward. While continuing to hold it, press the igniter button repeatedly until the pilot flame lights.

The pilot flame is behind the first log near the center of the fireplace.

Do not continue pressing the igniter indefinitely. If the pilot does not light after several attempts, return the control to OFF and wait at least five minutes before trying again.

6

Allow the pilot to stabilize

After the pilot lights, continue holding the pilot knob inward for several seconds. Slowly release it and confirm that the pilot remains lit.

If the pilot goes out, turn the control back to OFF, wait five minutes, and repeat the lighting process.

7

Turn the fireplace on

Push the control knob inward slightly and rotate it from PILOT to ON.

The main burner should ignite within a few seconds.

8

Close the screen

Once the main burner is operating normally, close the fireplace screen and keep the area directly in front of it clear.
